Eric Lewis was born on a farm in a log cabin in Southwest Missouri
25 miles west of West Plains, Mo at a small place called Elihah, Mo.
At age 2 months, his parents moved to West Plains, Mo.
Eric was raised in West Plains and attended elementary and high school there. He graduated in 1961 and started working at a pallet and
hard wood flooring mill. He worked at different jobs and in 1962 he
got married and started playing music at music parties at friend's homes and in 1962 he played in public for the first time at the court
house in Salem, Arkansas each Saturday night and later started per-
forming at festivals at which time he joined the Heart of The Ozarks
Bluegrass Association at West Plains, Mo of which he was a charter
member. With this he formed his band Southern Grass in 1981, but
after hearing of a few other groups with the same name, changed it to Southern Missouri Bluegrass. Eric has developed his group into one
of the premier groups in the world. They are a 23 year professional
award winning group. They have written and recorded several songs
and have 12 projects out. Eric has started his own live TV show
which is also on the internet and watched by thier many fans world
wide 24/7 each week. He has performed with greats as Bill Monroe,
Jim & Jesse, Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent,
Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass, Doyle Lawson and many others.
Eric is part of several associations as the Bill Monroe Foundation
at Rosine, KY; George D. Hay Music Hall of Fame & Foundation of
which he is president in 2005. Eric plays guitar, sings lead, tenor,
and baritone; writes and records songs and records for Triskiadeka
Records. Has performed at Opryland, Gibson Bluegrass Showcase,
Jersulam Ridge festival at Bill Monroe homeplace, Rosine, KY
